We ensure that every Interactive College Prospectus™ complies with the regulatory and statutory guidelines provided by the DfES - but seek to make more engaging and interactive content available to help prospective parents and pupils get a real feel of the College - beyond the standard information.
Statutory Content
The following statutory information should be included in your College Prospectus:
- the College's name, address and telephone number
- the type of College
- the name of the Headteacher and Chair of the Governing Body
- information about the admissions policy and arrangements for prospective parents to visit the College
- the College's ethos and values
- a summary of the Governing Body's policy for pupils with special educational needs and any changes to the policy during the last year
- details of the religious education provided and a reminder that parents can withdraw their children from all or part of religious education and collective worship and alternative provision for those pupils
- details of any links which the College has with a particular religion or religious denomination
- rates of authorised and unauthorised pupil absence
- information about the College's National Curriculum assessment results at KS1, 2 and 3
- national information about National Curriculum assessment results at KS3 (Secondary Colleges only)
- a summary of results for GCE A and AS examinations in the College and nationally (Secondary Colleges only)
- GCSE and GNVQ results in the College locally and nationally (Secondary Colleges only)
- the number of pupils studying for and percentage achieving other vocational qualifications(Secondary Colleges only)
- destinations of College leavers (Secondary Colleges only)
- details of the number of College places available in the current College year and the number of applications and parents interested in those places (Secondary Colleges only).
Optional Content
Colleges are not required to include the following topics in the Prospectus, but we would encourage communicating as much information as possible to give a full picture. Much of this information can be delivered in a more interactive and engaging way - for example, images, video, audio, animation, charting:
- a statement on the College's arts policy and provision
- a statement on the College's sports policy and provision
- a statement on the College's pastoral care provision
- a description of any other action taken to develop or strengthen links with parents and the local community
- curriculum information, including aims, content, setting and grouping, gifted and talented, organisational strategies and teaching techniques, class sizes including any age groups taught together, summary of content and organisation of sex education
- where parents can see copies of statutory instruments and guidance documents sent to Colleges by the DfES about the curriculum, schemes of work and syllabuses, OfSTED reports, College policies
- dates of College holidays and times of College sessions
- how the College seeks to involve and engage parents
- arrangements for dealing with formal complaints
- details of career education and guidance and work experience provided (Secondary Colleges only)
- details of alumni success stories
- further information about admissions (Secondary Colleges only)
